TYPES OF CLASSES AT SITI’S DELIGHTS PTE LTD

There are 2 types of classes at Siti’s Delights Pte Ltd. One is the modular classes called “Essence of Baking” and the other is called Adhoc Classes.

MODULAR CLASS

The Essence of Baking” is a specially structured course for students from different backgrounds to learn all aspects of baking in CAKE, PASTRY, BREAD and HIGH TEA DESSERTS. The courses consist of intensive practical hands-on baking and also theory lessons on all the fundamentals of baking. The courses are for :-

  • Individuals who wants to upgrade their existing skills
  • Corporate companies who wish to retrain their staff
  • Bakery staff who wants to learn a new skill
  • Baking enthusiasts

COURSE SYALLABUS

CAKE MAKING FOR BEGINNERS

COURSE OBJECTIVES

Cake Making for Beginners” serves as an important foundation for those who wish to know everything about cake making and all the common faults associated with it. From this course, they would be able to bake independently and gain good knowledge on the basic functions of all ingredients. They will also learn how to apply the different techniques needed in the making of the different types of cakes.


BREAD MAKING

Bread Making” teaches all the necessary skills needed to create and bake fresh, good quality breads, buns and donuts. They will also learn how to create different variations of fillings to suit the customer’s request.

Hi Tea Desserts” consists of intensive theory and practical hands-on training in the making of delicious and high quality desserts, Malay and Nonya Traditional kueh. They will also learn both the old and new variations of “kuehs” so as to cater to their customers’ ever changing needs.


PASTRY MAKING

COURSE OBJECTIVES

Pastry Making” teaches all the necessary skills needed to create and bake good quality pastries. They will also learn how to create different variations of pastries to suit the customer’s request.

Once a week for 7 weeks. Duration of each lesson is 4 hours.
Classes are conducted in the evenings from 6.30pm to 10.30pm.
Morning classes (10.30 am to 2.30pm) can be arranged, subject to demand.


INTERMEDIATE CAKE MAKING – LEVEL 1

Intermediate Cake Making - Level 1” teaches the students how to assemble and decorate “designer cakes“ for birthdays, engagements, functions etc.

COURSE SYLLABUS
The course serves as a continuation of the skills taught at Cake Making For Beginners . Students learn the finer techniques on how to create some basic designs on their baked cakes. Amongst the topics covered are:-

  • Pipe basic decorations using all the different nozzles
  • Decorate cakes using the different types of creams
  • Knowledge on the making and the usage of various buttercreams
  • Knowledge on how to decorate cakes with fudge toppings
  • Whipping techniques
  • Knowledge of how to incorporate good colour scheme for cake decoration
  • Knowledge on cost calculation and products costing
  • Baking Planning and Time Management
  • Importance of teamwork and how to bake in quantities without compromising on quality
  • Personal hygiene and safety standards
  • Knowledge of how to package and present baked products
  • Evaluation of baked products
  • Good Customer Service and how to reach out to clients’ needs

COURSE DETAILS
Lessons are conducted twice a week for 5 weeks. Duration of each lesson is 4 hours.
Classes are conducted in the evenings from 6.30pm to 10.30pm.
Morning classes (10.30 am to 2.30pm) can be arranged, subject to demand.

CERTIFICATE OF ATTENDANCE will be issued for participants who have completed 75% of attendance for all Module classes.

These are either half day or one day workshops. Classes are either semi or fully hands on. During Festive Season, we also hold special festive workshops to cater to those who wish to earn some extra income or those who simply wish to bake festive goodies for their loved ones. The following are some of our popular Adhoc Classes

  • Mufin Workshop
    Be prepared to be won over with the delicious variations of "piping hot and resh" muffins. There will be 3 different variations of muffins, complete with yummy fresh fruits and nuts!
  • Beancurd Workshop
    Imagine showing off to your guests your ability to do your very own home-made "tau huay" beancurd dessert!! You will also learn how to make your own home-made beancurd drink and also how to make delicious cookies out of the beancurd pulp!
  • Ice-Cream Workshop
    In this workshop, you will learn how to make your own ice-cream without any need of any special ice-cream making machine. Have fun creating your own flavors and variations!
  • Malay and Nonya Kueh Workshop
    Always enjoyed traditional Malay and Nonya kueh! Imagine doing them all by yourself!! A sure crowd pleaser.
  • Lapis Cake Workshop (1)
    Bake your own Indonesian Lapis Cake (Layered Cake) and Lapis Prune Cake. Learn all the tips on how to bake good lapis cake which is beautiful to look at and delicious to eat! The Indonesian Lapis Cake is the "mother of all lapis cake".
  • Agar-Agar Workshop (1)
    A very fun workshop where you will learn how to make beautifully designed agar-agar. Great as gifts for friends and engagement functions.
  • Agar-Agar Workshop (2)
    Another interesting agar-agar workshop for you to learn 2 more new designs.
  • Pizza Workshop
    An interesting workshop where you will learn how to do your very own pizza right from scratch! Make your own pizza base and have fun doing up your own toppings.
  • Biscuits Workshops (1) and (2)
    This is a must for all those who wish to have good quality festive biscuits. There will be 2 different sets of workshop which will teach an average of about 4 types of biscuits in each workshop. The cookies make an excellent extra source of income during the festive season for the students!
  • Roll Cake Workshop (1) and (2)
    2 different great workshops for those who intends to sell roll cakes during festive season! Most of our previous students are kept busy with orders of the roll cakes. You will learn 3 types of roll cakes together with their different types of creams. However, you must have already attended our Cake Beginners Module in order to attend this workshop.

Attendance for the above classes are STRICTLY by registration and is on first come first served basis. Students are advised to pre-register and place a deposit in order to secure a seat.

How do students make payments?
They can come down personally to our shop to make cash or cheque payment during the priority registration exercise stated in the baking calendars or flyers. If they can't come down personally during the registration exercise, they can post us a crossed cheque, made payable to Siti's Delights Pte. Ltd. Confirmation of seat placement will be given upon clearance of the cheque.

How can I be updated about Siti's Delights baking Calendar?
You may give us your email in order to be in our mailing list. Once our baking calendar is ready (every 2 or 3 months' time), we will keep you updated through the e-mail.

  • Can I take pictures of the class in progress or the baked products?
    Stricly NO Audio, Visual and/or Phone Recording and Photography are allowed during all classes. However students may take a group picture at the end of their Module Class only.
  • Can I bring my child to the lessons if no one is taking care of him/ber?
    We do NOT allow students to bring their children as this will disrupt both the mother and the other students' lesson.
